The aim of the research is to recommend a social enterprise model that is suitable for transfer or adaptation in the Humber sub region, specifically for people with learning disabilities.

In particular the social enterprise model should –

 

·        Provideroutes and choices for a number of people with learning disabilities with a view to their ultimate employment outside the organisation.

 

·        Generate transferable income from trading activity

 

·        Make optimum use of an existing building or facility and should not involve heavy plant and machinery

 

This will be achieved by:

 

·        Reviewing existing and emerging UK social enterprises and collecting information on best practice used by successful enterprises 

 

·        Examining appropriate and potential funding sources, linkages and partnerships

 

·        Examining the most appropriate form of business structure
