Getting it right first time: A one day workshop

Who this course is for:

  • Those setting up their own business and considering taking on their first employee whether full time or part time
  • Existing employers who intend to take on more employees
  • Those who feel they should know more about their role as 'employer'

Course objectives:

This workshop is informal and interactive and intended to give you a) the confidence to manage your employees and b) the inspiration to recommend it to a friend!

Workshop Content:

  • How to recruit effectively and lawfully
  • Understanding employment contracts
  • Induction - start as you mean to go on
  • Employee management including attendance and performance issues
  • How to handle a dismissal if your new starter turns out to be unsuitable

Learning Outcomes:

Enables delegates to confidently recruit and manage staff; helps them comply with key employment legislation and avoid tribunal.
